Who Blackpink's Jennie is Going to Play in 'The Idol'?
A K-pop sensation, Jennie from Blackpink is now officially a part of 'The Idol' cast, starring in the series alongside Abel Tesfaye a.k.a. The Weeknd, and Lily-Rose Depp.
As The Weeknd steps away from the stage to small screens with his upcoming show 'The Idol ', co-created with 'Euphoria 's Sam Levinson, Jennie Kim from Blackpink might steal his spotlight.
Shortly after the release of the first trailer, Jennie fans flocked to Twitter to celebrate their idol's appearance in 'The Idol' – and isn't the show's title just appropriate for the K-pop star?
On July 18, HBO officially confirmed that Jennie is a part of the cast, although the network remained mum about her character. The singer herself said she found the script "very intriguing" and asked fans to "watch [her] with affection".
That they can do; even a brief appearance of Jennie made Blackpink fans go crazy. While her role in the show remains a mystery, many people guess that she might be portraying some kind of antagonist for the duo of Abel Tesfaye and Lily-Rose Depp. There are no particular reasons for their belief, it just seems that they think the role of a villain would suit Jennie the best.
Little is known about the plot of the show, except for the fact that it is going to be set in the music industry, with a modern cult leader (The Weeknd) discovering himself in a complicated relationship with a rising pop star (Lily-Rose Depp).
The release date of 'The Idol' remains to be scheduled.
