Everyone’s favorite rom com actor was underrated for a pretty long time.

Glen Powell may be one of Hollywood’s most promising actors after starring in last year’s trending romcom Anyone But You alongside Sydney Sweeney, but his career was launched way before his most famous flick came around.

Unlike many other actors, Powell jumped right to the 2000s’ huge franchise for his first ever role, but later on was unfairly forgotten.

Back in 2003, 14-year-old Powell starred in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, the third movie of Robert Rodriguez’s iconic franchise about two kids following their parents’ suit and becoming young spies. The actor got a minor role of a character nicknamed Long-fingered Boy, yet he still succeeded in impressing the franchise’s director with his talent and perseverance.

In one of his recent interviews Rodriguez revealed that Powell had instantly caught his attention as he’d come for an audition in Austin where the movie was supposed to be shot and where Powell was living at that moment.

According to the director, the crew was looking for local young actors who may have not boasted of the same experience as their Los Angeles peers, though still wouldn’t be very nervous to perform.

As Rodriguez put it, after a long search for appropriate candidates Glen Powell “walks in with a stature and his confidence and just nails it”.

The director eventually admitted he was glad that his movie had paved the young actor’s way to Hollywood’s big projects, though the overall recognition for Glen Powell was quite tardy to come.

Despite having quite a vast filmography that was getting bigger ever since his Spy Kids’ breakout role in 2003, Powell rose to real prominence only in 2022 when he appeared in the Tom Cruise-led action drama film Top Gun: Maverick.

The actor got swept by a storm of an even bigger popularity after his 2023 viral romcom Anyone But You.
