Where Is House of the Dragon's Emily Carey Now?
What happened to the young Alicent Hightower star after she quit HotD?
Some people like House of the Dragon more than Game of Thrones, pointing out its consistency and sense of self. Others prefer the original series and claim HotD has nothing on it even two seasons in. But whatever your take on the Targaryen spin-off is, you have to admit that its casting is on-point — especially, transition-wise.
In the majority of Season 1, Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower were portrayed by Milly Alcock and Emily Carey, but later, they were changed for Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke, respectively. Both actress duos proved to be the perfect choices, and the transition between them was as smooth as they get. But!
Many House of the Dragon fans have lost sight of the younger actresses after their exit. Previously, we traced down Milly Alcock; now, let’s see what Emily Carey has been up to lately.
Emily Carey’s Been Busy After HotD
Unlike Alcock, Emily Carey has already released several projects after leaving House of the Dragon. Since then, she starred in the movie Breaking Point, played the lead parts in TV shows Platform 7 and Geek Girl, and lended her voice to Virginia Otis in The Canterville Ghost animated remake. Carey has been busy!
While Carey had had an active acting career even before House of the Dragon, the last couple of years once again highlighted her genre range: from sport drama and dramedy to animated comedy and downright thriller, she’s been doing it all. Speaking of Carey’s genre variety, she has another project coming right up soon, too.
Emily Carey to Lead a Horror Movie Soon
The Alicent Hightower star has a deal in place for an upcoming horror movie, in addition to her previous scores. Carey will co-star with Suki Waterhouse in Walk with Me where they both will play lead parts; the movie is currently in pre-production. It will be directed by Jonny Blair, an emerging horror director who has proven himself with short movies The Groundsman and Come Out of the Woods.
Walk with Me will follow a young woman plagued by a mysterious creature’s presence; straight from the Celtic mythology, it becomes the bane of her existence. We don’t know any more details yet, but if you’ve been missing Emily Carey from House of the Dragon, you can just wait a little and, well, Come with Her.
