Where Is Harry Potter’s Ron Weasley Now?
The famous redhead seemingly stays out of the spotlight. Or does he?
The Harry Potter franchise made worldwide stars of its main three actors, who portray Harry, Hermione and Ron. Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson seem to be in sight after the last HP movie was released in 2011, while the fate of Rupert Grint, who played the most awkward and the youngest son of the Weasley family, is lesser known.
It turns out that after starring in Harry Potter, which was quite a challenge to Grint, he preferred to explore indie films and take the unexpectedly extravagant roles.
His first post-Potter project was the 2012 war drama Into the White, and the actor’s feisty character was definitely a far cry from Ron Weasley.
This trend continued in the 2013 biopic CBGB, where Grint reunited with the Severus Snape actor, Alan Rickman, with them playing drastically different roles they had in HP. Besides, that year is remarkable for the actor’s appearance in Charlie Countryman.
However, the Ron actor didn’t forget about his obvious talent for comedy, as two years later he starred in the hilarious movie Moonwalkers, following moon landing conspiracy theorists. The actor’s fans would be certainly happy to see him delivering jokes again.
As for Grint’s appearances in TV shows, there are some must-watches too. The HP star played the leading characters in the eponymous follow-up of Guy Ritchie ’s iconic gangster film Snatch and in Netflix ’s black comedy show Sick Note (both 2017 - 2018).
Grint’s success in these TV titles attracted the attention of M. Night Shyamalan, who invited him to play in his psychological horror series Servant.
The actor’s performance was praised even by Guillermo del Toro, who said that Grint almost stole the show.
It was also Shyamalan who made Grint return to the big screens 8 years after Moonwalkers. Last year he starred in the filmmaker’s Knock at the Cabin, the horror film which became quite successful both at the box office and critically.
Even though there are no projects as big as the Harry Potter franchise, you can see that Rupert Grint continues to participate in a number of worth-watching titles, so don’t miss the opportunity to see our favorite Ron actor proving his talent more and more.
