While many people believe that it is time to wrap up the story of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital and leave it behind the cameras, ABC continues to pick up the show for more seasons. Will Grey’s Anatomy Return in 2024?
Although some viewers pointed out what a great opportunity it would be to end the series on its 20th anniversary season, which was released this year on ABC, newly appointed showrunner Meg Marinis was not about to give it up.
Instead, she tried to give the show a reboot, which didn't end up being as successful as it could have been, but it did earn Grey's Anatomy more time on the air and another renewal. Now, the longest-running medical drama on U.S. television will return for season 21. And you won't have to wait long.
In a newly released schedule, ABC announced that Grey's Anatomy will return to fans' screens on Thursday, September 26, 2024. But that doesn't mean there won't be any changes. With Station 19 off the schedule, Grey's Anatomy will move to the 10 p.m. time slot, following Ryan Murphy's new medical show Doctor Odyssey.
One can speculate that by pitting two shows against each other, ABC wants to draw a comparison in terms of audience response. In order to keep its place on the network, Grey's Anatomy will have to deliver its best season in years. Luckily, the show is rumored to be bringing back Ellen Pompeo for more screen time, so that may not be too hard of a task.
