Whatever Happened to Leighton Meester After Gossip Girl Ended?
Gossip Girl's success brought the actress worldwide fame, but now she rarely appears in other major projects.
All the girls who watched Gossip Girl wanted to be like Blair Waldorf. She had it all – a chic life, expensive outfits and a handsome boyfriend, Chuck Bass. Gossip Girl made Leighton Meester a star with millions of fans around the world.
However, Gossip Girl ended 11 years ago. Here's what the actress is doing now.
While working on Gossip Girl and couple of years after it ended, Leighton starred in such projects as Remember the Daze, That’s My Boy, The Judge and Country Strong. Even then, the actress had the chance to work with Adam Sandler, Robert Downey Jr. and other A-list actors.
Leighton's next projects were two melodramas – Like Sunday, Like Rain and Life Partners. The actress played the main roles in both.
In 2015 Leighton got pregnant with her first child, but with the birth of the daughter Meester's career was not interrupted. Already after 5-6 months she appeared at official events.
In 2017, the first season of the series Making History about time travel was released, in which Leighton played one of the main roles. However, the show wasn’t particularly successful.
In 2018, the actress starred in the short film The North Wind’s Gift, and in 2019, fans could see Meester in an episode of the science fiction TV series The Orville, a parody of the popular TV series Star Trek.
In the same year, the actress was invited to play in the crime drama Semper Fi, directed by Henry Alex Rubin.
Then Leighton starred in another major TV series, How I Met Your Father, a spin-off of the popular sitcom How I Met Your Mother. The actress played Meredith, Jesse's ex-girlfriend.
Meester's most recent project was the Netflix thriller series The Weekend Away.
The actress played the lead role of Beth, a woman whose best friend disappears during a bachelorette party in Croatia, and Beth decides to find her. With each new lead, she uncovers an increasingly horrific deception.
Now, Leighton is working with Shamrock Farms, Sunglass Hut and others to host charity events with proceeds going to starving people in the US and other countries.
