Wes Bentley has a grim warning for fans of Yellowstone that are seeking a happy ending – keep wishing.

The popular show is preparing to return this summer to conclude season five, which has left many people assuming what happens next to the Duttons.

The mid-season finale left an imbalance between Jamie, Beth, and John Dutton. Now, Jamie has to double down on his quest to eliminate his father and step-sister before they make sure of his own demise.

Therefore, when speaking recently at SCAD TVFest, Wes Bentley (Jamie Dutton) had much to say regarding the ending to Yellowstone.

Bentley clarified that he has absolutely no idea how (or when) Yellowstone will conclude. He's attempted to bring up the subject with showrunner Taylor Sheridan yet, like the rest of the cast, has only been met with a cold shoulder.

It's reported that Sheridan is the only individual on the TV show that knows how Yellowstone ends, and he's adamant about keeping it a secret.

Be that as it may, Bentley still has assumptions about his character, along with the rest of the infamous cast of Yellowstone.

He and Kelly Reilly (who plays Beth Dutton) have always lobbied for reconciliation between the bitter siblings, but it's not a subject Sheridan considers worth pursuing. In fact, Bentley even dared bring up the subject with Sheridan and was met with a harsh no.

Furthermore, considering that Jamie gave his new girlfriend, Sarah Atwood, permission to orchestrate a hit job on Beth and John in the mid-season finale, the chances of a storybook ending are beyond repair.

It appears that Jamie has turned down a detour he cannot escape. He's left with limited options and becoming more desperate by the day.

Nonetheless, Jamie is a critical thinker, and these types of brains are usually "steps ahead" of the competition.

Ultimately, Jamie is in the driver's seat, according to Bentley. The actor references the words from Game of Thrones: "If you think this has a happy ending, you're not paying attention."

Perhaps he's right. Perhaps Jamie is one step ahead of the rest of the Duttons. After all, even if Beth manages to kill him first, he's got enough dirt on his sister and father to lock them behind bars for years.

Consequently, no one may end up winning when it's all said and over on the Yellowstone Ranch. Still, Wes Bentley is optimistic that his character will end up okay. Here's to well wishes!
