Now it seems that the transformation of the director's unique auteur style into a global trend was inevitable, but does the director himself like such distribution of his works?

Recently, TikTok has seen a trend of bloggers actively shooting short vlogs and other videos that look like Wes Anderson's movies.

Thanks to Anderson's recognizable filming techniques, even the most mundane situations – lunch or a train ride – seem to turn into colorful clips from the movie.

The trend has become so widespread that the director himself could not help but notice it.

While the trend is probably the best and most resourceful mass TikTok event out there, Wes Anderson himself is not exactly optimistic: "I protect myself from that. I'd be afraid to think: 'Is this really how people see my films?'"

However, the director admitted that he still likes one fans-generated thing that is connected to his works.

And this is Accidentally Wes Anderson's Instagram account, which posts ordinary photos that look like they're from his movies:

"It's one of the only tributes that touched me! They're beautiful photos of places I'd like to have been."

Even a viewer unfamiliar with Wes Anderson's projects could probably guess a random shot from his movie. The director's visual style has bright, recognizable features that are easy to reproduce.

First, Anderson's aesthetic was adopted in music videos, then in advertising and interiors, and now it is exaggerated in the aforementioned trends.

However, this is all external copying of a style that does not contain all the cultural and cinematic baggage that the author fills his work with.

One of the most important components of Wes Anderson's visual language is symmetry, where you can see the clear influence of Stanley Kubrick, who also emphasized proportions.

Anderson brings the symmetry of his shots to perfection, and in many ways this is not just a desire to create a geometric ideal, but the director's individual ideas of beauty.

Wes Anderson himself has admitted that he would have become an architect if he had not gone into cinema, and this is clearly reflected in his style: the worlds he creates on the screen are necessarily filled with detail.

And although Wes Anderson is often accused of infantilism, his movies are more than just a beautiful picture.

He makes movies that combine colorful characters with their own style and quirks, creating his own original worlds that reach far beyond the screen.
