We Could’ve Had A Completely Different Bella Swan In Twilight (But Lose Katniss Everdeen)
The good thing is, everything worked out as it should have.
Now, so many years after the release of the two film adaptations of the Twilight and Hunger Games teen book franchises, it's almost impossible to imagine them being any different.
Both heavily memed and vilified by one part of the Internet and absolutely adored by the other, these stories were the holy grail for many young people around the world.
And, of course, they wouldn't have been possible without the right kind of commitment from the actors. Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen and Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan became true idols for many girls who were willing to do anything to be like them.
What's crazy, though, is that Lawrence could have taken Stewart's place and become Edward Cullen's biggest weakness.
The actress opened up about her experience auditioning for Twilight on the episode of The Rewatchables podcast, where she sat down with Bill Simmons to re-watch the 1994 classic Dumb and Dumber:
“I auditioned for Twilight [and] they turned me down immediately. I didn't even get a callback. But my life would've been totally different. I got Hunger Games I think, like, a year later. When you audition when you’re a run-of-the-mill actor <...> you just get five pages and they’re like, ‘Act monkey.’”
Although we're sure many people would pay a lot of money to see Jennifer Lawrence in action as Bella Swan, it would definitely change the trajectory of a Hollywood star's life, and no one can even guess what her career would look like today.
Knowing how well she did as Kitniss in a dystopian action movie, it would be risky but very interesting to see the actress switch to fantasy romance.
What everyone knows for sure is that The Hunger Games was a huge success and remains an incredibly popular franchise to this day, with a prequel to Katniss' story coming very soon.
Jennifer Lawrence herself continues to shine, starring in major film productions such as Don't Look Up and her latest film, No Hard Feelings, which is now in theaters near you.
