Upcoming Netflix Crime Comedy Teases the ‘Greatest Cast Since Harry Potter’
This is the premiere you won’t want to miss.
There are two types of mystery TV shows and movie fans. Some want them to be as realistic, dark and gritty as possible, while others prefer a more lighthearted approach to the genre. While all the cases are still just as twisted and horrific, such stories add a dash of humor to their protagonists and keep things interesting without being too depressing.
If you find yourself in the second group, Netflix already has the perfect movie in the works for you. The adaptation of Richard Osman's The Thursday Murder Club already sounds like the next big hit in the making.
The Thursday Murder Club Movie Cast
One of the things that the entire production team of the upcoming movie is most proud and excited about so far is the impeccable casting. The author of the original book series, Richard Osman, has been extremely happy to bring every single update when it comes to actors joining the cast.
In a guest appearance on The Rest is Entertainment podcast, the author went so far as to suggest that the film's cast was brilliant enough to be compared to one of Britain's most popular film franchises, the Harry Potter adaptations.
“We've already had the four main people, but [there are] a few more cast members. There's some great names and some more names coming as well. I think this is the greatest British cast assembled since the [Harry Potter] movies,” Osman said.
Considering that the four lead roles in the movie are played by none other than Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Sir Ben Kingsley and Celia Imrie, with David Tennant, Naomi Ackie, Jonathan Pryce, Danny Mays and Henry Lloyd-Hughes supporting them, it seems that Osman's words are not far from the truth.
It's not just the cast that stands out about the production. The adaptation of the iconic mystery novel will be directed by Chris Columbus, known for his work on Gremlins, the Home Alone series and, of course, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, to which Osman nodded in his speech.
The combined efforts of everyone already involved in the movie will surely make it another classic, adding to all the accolades the original story has already garnered. If you are interested in checking out The Thursday Murder Club movie, be sure to keep an eye out for all the news and updates so as not to miss the premiere date.
