You’re clearly missing something if you still haven’t watched it.

It seems today’s comedies can’t be as hilarious and witty as they were back in the time when the grass was greener. Even current leaders of Netflix ’s global chart, Beverly Hills Cop and A Family Affair lack decent humor according to some fans, even though they’re advertised as comedies.

However, a lesser-known movie that is now holding the 4th place in the platform’s top elevates the genre to a completely different level, and it’s proved by its perfect score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. We bet you still haven’t seen it, but it’s worth a watch.

The plot of the new romcom revolves around Goyo, a young museum guide on the autism spectrum. He lives a calm life reading books about his favorite Van Gogh, but one day his routine is disrupted when he meets the museum’s new security guard Eva.

The point is Goyo falls heavily for her, but he has zero knowledge on how to attract a woman. Eva, in her turn, is disillusioned with love after her failed marriage and seems to be used to being a single mother in her fifties.

You can see how many issues are explored in this movie, and the main one is obviously the autism spectrum. Although this disorder was already displayed in a number of films, including Ben Affleck ’s The Accountant (2016), here it’s done with greater care.

This romcom can be also compared to Nicole Kidman ’s A Family Affair and Anne Hathaway ’s The Idea of You, as all three movies focus on the age-gap romances where a woman is older than a man. It proves people’s interest in such atypical love stories.

Titled Goyo, this must-see gem is now praised for top-notch humor that doesn’t offend anyone (or at least tries not to), as well as memorable dialogues and incredibly charming characters.

It’s now rarely seen that a comedy can both properly laugh at the protagonist’s problems and inspire people that even if you’re not like everybody else, you’ll always find love.

Besides, Goyo was created by Argentine filmmakers, so it’s a perfect chance to get acquainted with a non-American vision of age-gap love stories and neurodiversity.

Check out this hidden comedy gold, as Goyo is available for streaming on Netflix.
