The 1994 action-comedy movie True Lies was a smash hit and talks of a TV reboot have been circling for over a decade before CBS finally released it this TV season.

James Cameron 's movie starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jamie Lee Curtis, Eliza Dushku, and Tom Arnold in leading roles.

Although it definitely had its shortcomings, the movie won over critics and audiences alike with its wit, heart, and action. Which is absolutely not the case with the CBS reboot series.

With its first season now on air, it is evident that it falls short of the original in multiple ways. The fans see it as well as the critics do.

Reddit, for one, is having a field day with the reboot, so let's see what the fans have to say on the issue.

The CBS show get compared to US network shows a lot, and this not a compliment. According to fans, CBS' True Lies just "doesn't look like a network TV quality show."

What made the original great was its cast. The movie basically associates with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis.

The new versions of Harry and Helen, portrayed by Steve Howey and Ginger Gonzaga, fail to deliver the same level of charisma and on-screen chemistry.

According to fans, the actors in the reboot have as much charisma "as a wet noodle," and there is little to no chemistry, which might be the fault of the cast.

Not only the vibe of the original is nowhere to be felt in the reboot, it also fails completely as piece of cinematography.

The CGI is bad, faces of body doubles are lazily left to be seen in the footage, and the international locations of the spy missions are established with generic photo hosting level of pictures. Its like the show doesn't even try.

Fans refer to the CBS reboot in no other wat as "a waste of time," and it's totally understandable.

The only thing the series seems to be doing right is the pacing. While the movie was criticized for being uneven, the CBS show is more consistent with the speed the events unfold.

There are several reasons why the TV reboot of True Lies doesn't do justice to the original movie. And with the reviews it gets it will be a miracle if it lives past the first season.

Moral of the story? Maybe do not remake iconic movies into bad TV shows.

We're not sure how many more reboots it will take for the networks to finally learn it.
