True Detective Season 2 Biggest Mistake? Hit-and-Miss Casting
The first season of this amazing series not only changed the whole world of TV show making, but also gave us some incredible acting to watch. But then something went wrong...
McConaughey's portrayal of the troubled and philosophical detective Rust Cohle was simply mesmerizing. He completely immersed himself in the character, bringing an intensity and depth that made the detective one of the most intriguing and memorable characters in recent television history.
McConaughey's ability to convey his character's complex emotions and internal conflicts was truly remarkable, earning him critical acclaim and an Emmy nomination.
Equally impressive was Woody Harrelson's performance as Marty Hart, Rust's partner and a more conventional detective. Harrelson brilliantly captured the contradictions within his character, showing Marty's struggle with his own demons and the strain it puts on his relationship with Rust.
And recently, Redditor Yomepregunto shared another opinion after watching the series again. If the premiere installment was great as always, the user was very confused by Vince Vaughn's performance in season 2. Throughout the episodes, his acting seemed incredibly flat and unconvincing.
On a similarly bad level was Kelly Reilly, although she managed to give viewers a pretty good appearance as Watson's wife in Guy Ritchie 's Sherlock Holmes or a rather solid role in John Michael McDonagh's Calvary. The fan notes that he was shocked that Reilly is British because British actors are usually great, especially in TV series.
The Redditor certainly liked Colin Farrell, who missed out on the Oscar again this year, although his performance in The Banshees of Inisherin was absolutely outstanding. There were also no complaints about Rachel McAdams, who knows her stuff, even though she always plays in melodramas and comedies.
And it is very unclear to the viewer why such a casting decision was made, especially considering the incredible lineup of True Detective 's first season.
However, many fans continue to defend Vince Vaughn, saying that he was great in his dramatic roles. Others have criticized the writers for making the main character less interesting and not giving him memorable lines.
The second season has been branded for its boring investigation and slow pacing, but now the bad acting has been added to the list of flaws.
