Toss a Coin to Your Pirate: The Witcher Composer Joins Netflix's One Piece, So Expect a New Hit
Let us have our hopes high for Netflix's yet another anime endeavour.
Even the people who couldn't care less about The Witcher know the notorious Toss A Coin To Your Witcher song. It went viral shortly after the series' second episode released, performed by Joey Batey in the role of Jaskier.
Well, buckle up: the very composers behind the catchy tune, Sonya Belousova & Giona Ostinelli, have signed up to create music for Netflix 's One Piece anime adaptation. And boy do we have a musical journey to prepare for!
In October, the duo will release an EP titled "A Mighty Heart Beating Like A Drum." Expect guest artists like System of a Down's Serj Tankian and ex-Nightwish singer Tarja, as well as "virtuosic flamenco guitar, hip-hop and big band jazz funk fusion, folk and circus, rap and big epic swashbuckling orchestra."
The EP will include 8 tracks, and we have a feeling that at least one of those has the potential to stick in our heads just like Toss A Coin To Your Witcher once did.
On Instagram, Belousova is actively teasing her followers with little insights into her and Giona's creative process, even though she is tight-lipped about which musical pieces from the original anime will be incorporated into the Netflix version, and surely she isn't allowed to share snippets just yet.
When asked by one fan whether there will be a new version of Overtaken (Mugiwara theme song), or We Are, the composer refused to unveil the secrets, but hinted the answers will be known "soon."
One Piece sets the sails on Netflix on August 31st.
