We decided to increase the number of films on this list to 15 with one goal in mind - to thoroughly review the gangster movie phenomenon and hopefully introduce you to a few new films in the process. After all, it wouldn't be any fun to just feature "Goodfellas" and "Pulp Fiction", would it?
That's why we added some international movies to this list, because the gangster movies were not just about the USA, they were also very popular in Japan, Taiwan and Denmark.
All in all, the 90's was a golden era for gangster movies, and the sheer amount of ground covered by the movies on this list basically left the genre with nothing to say, resulting in a somewhat of a drought in the gangster movie genre in the 2000's.
