NCIS: Los Angeles has been clamoring for good news ever since it was confirmed by CBS at the beginning of the year that the show will not continue past its current, 14th season.

It was heartbreaking news for audiences that have come to rely on NCIS for quality drama and acting performances.

Despite the bad news, NCIS is far from over. In fact, recent gossip suggests that NCIS is not only returning but will come back better than ever. It might just save the police drama and make it worth watching again.

According to rumors, it's not outside the realm of possibilities that Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David inherit their own spinoff. NCIS has delivered several other successful versions in the past, so why not approach the subject from the perspective of the two characters?

There is no doubt that fans of NCIS have been itching to get Tony (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva (Cote de Pablo) back on the show. The only previous explanation the writers provided for their exit from the show was that Tony and Ziva were in love and had relocated to France with their daughter Tali.

It's presented that the two characters are happy and comfortable with their present circumstances. However, that appearance was years ago. Accordingly, fans feel like Ziva and Tony are the most deserving of their own spinoff.

It's been more than 10 seasons since viewers witnessed seeing the beloved characters together. Ziva first appeared in the season 3 premiere after replacing Kate Todd (Sasha Alexander), who is killed by her half-brother. Eventually, Ziva strikes up a relationship with Anthony "Tony" DiNozzo. He is one of the regulars on NCIS, which is rare considering the show is infamous for a revolving door of cast members. At first, Tony is a renowned clown and player, yet Ziva is able to shift his attitude and mindset.

Consequently, the two characters evolve throughout NCIS and get romantically involved. Tony is notorious for cracking jokes and convincing others with his infectious smile. Meanwhile, Ziva is far more reserved and conceals the fact that she's a trained assassin. She's known for being tough and confrontational when the situation calls for it, thus presenting an intriguing dynamic with her on-screen love interest.

Despite it, the two characters haven't made a significant appearance on the show in years, which is precisely why now is the right time to introduce a new version of NCIS. There are many suggestions as to how CBS could pursue the subject matter, including spawning an "International" version that would explore crime from the perspective of Tony and Ziva in France. NCIS has never attempted an international location, so why not now?

After all, the TV series has already been successful in introducing not one, but two successful spin-offs. Furthermore, CBS has pulled off a similar move in the past when it ditched the New Orleans version for NCIS: Hawaii. What's to say it couldn't happen again with Tony and Ziva?
