Tom Felton Found His Love at Hogwarts, but You'll Barely Remember Her
The Draco Malfoy star’s eight-year-long relationship began on the Harry Potter set. // Just like Draco Malfoy, Tom Felton has Harry Potter to thank for finding his love.
Summary:
- In the Harry Potter movies, Tom Felton portrayed Harry’s school rival Draco Malfoy.
- On the set of The Order of the Phoenix, Felton first met his future girlfriend, Jade Olivia Gordon.
- The couple got together when filming The Deathly Hallows — Part 2 where Gorgon ironically played Draco’s wife.
Many years ago, Tom Felton became one of the most notorious parts of the Wizarding World when, as a child, he was cast to portray Draco Malfoy, Harry Potter’s school rival. But Felton is nothing like his character: he’s a genuine and fun person who still loves the franchise and admits he owes everything to these movies.
But few fans realize just how much Tom Felton owed to the Wizarding World — the star actor met his girlfriend of eight years on the Hogwarts set, after all!
Tom Felton Found His Love on Set
Many actors fall in love while filming their movies, but there’s something extra magical about a relationship that started in the Hogwarts castle, don’t you think? When making Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part Two, Tom Felton started dating his co-star Jade Olivia Gordon, and they stayed together for eight years.
“We met on the set. It was love at first sight in the Hogwarts Great Hall — for me, at least… Jade had been asked to be an extra for the day. The Slytherin table were doing our naughty thing, looking around for good-looking girls, and she caught my eye,” Felton recalled in his old interview with Daily Mail.
But as handsome as he was, it took the actor quite a while to make a move.
Felton Stalled for Two Years Before Acting
Jade Olivia Gordon started her journey on Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix where, as Tom Felton remembered, she was an extra in one of the Great Hall scenes. The Draco Malfoy star fell for her immediately but didn’t act on it for too long.
The next time they ran into each other was on the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part Two where Gordon, quite ironically, played Draco Malfoy’s wife Astoria Greengrass in the epilogue. That was when the magic happened.
“The weird thing is, I didn’t really see her or speak to her for about two years after that, then we ran into each other on set again, and three cups of tea later, here we are,” Felton explained.
At the time of the interview, they had been together for three years, but in 2016, Tom Felton and Jade Olivia Gordon broke up… Thus proving that magic isn’t everything.
