The one movie almost got Robert Downey Jr. canceled, but now that the actor’s learned about Tom Cruise’s desire to do a sequel, he’s very much down for it.

Tom Cruise and Robert Downey Jr. are two of Hollywood’s biggest A-listers who star in the most popular and high-budget movies.

The public loves them, and they’re always at the center of attention — however, few people know that Cruise and Downey Jr. actually did a movie together back in 2008!

Ben Stiller’s Tropic Thunder is a criminally underrated film-into-a-film comedy about a group of actors trying to shoot a movie about the Vietnam War and having to deal with a bloodthirsty drug dealers gang instead.

Despite Tropic Thunder being over 15 years old, the general public hasn’t really paid attention to it… Until one case.

While the movie largely went unnoticed, the one time this brilliant comedy was brought up to light was for all the wrong reasons: to try and cancel Robert Downey Jr. for doing a “blackface”...

In a movie where he’s portraying a soldier in the Vietnam War. Isn’t the smartest of the accusations, but it almost did its job somehow.

The Iron Man actor narrowly avoided what almost became the largest controversy of his career and kept going strong — but now, his fellow co-star Tom Cruise has reportedly become interested in reviving Tropic Thunder and doing a sequel!

And apparently, Downey Jr. would’ve liked to reprise his role in the potential sequel.

“All I’ll say is this. Tom Cruise and I have not done a project yet together [besides Tropic Thunder]. And that’s kind of a ‘yes,’ and then we’ll figure out what the title is,” the actor said.

This sounds quite exciting in terms of the potential original Tropic Thunder cast reunion: Tom Cruise, Robert Downey Jr., Ben Stiller, and Jack Black.

If Cruise and Downey Jr. decide to proceed with their idea, we could end up with another great action comedy that could also finally bring positive attention to the brilliance of the first movie.
