Even Emma Watson sometimes needs assistance to nail her performances… But who would’ve guessed that she’d come to the Kardashians for help?

After having her career jump-started by the role of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies, Emma Watson moved on to perform the widest variety of characters in different projects.

Much like her friends and co-stars from Harry Potter, Watson has to constantly push her limits to prove that she’s far more than that Hermione girl.

In 2013’s Bling Ring, for example, Emma played what is now referred to as “material girl.” Her character, Nicki Moore, was an unhinged burglar teenager on the hunt for riches who’d stop at nothing to get what she wanted, and this role saw one of the actress’s most unexpected transformations. Watson took her job very seriously.

Apart from the brilliant acting, Watson surprised the audience with her accent: no one really expected this young British woman to pull off a flawless Valley accent.

Since Emma hadn’t exactly lived in Los Angeles for a single day in her life at that point, she resorted to what she could get her hands on to train the LA accent.

To perfect the dialect she’d never come across, the actress decided to take inspiration from the famous reality show about the Kardashian family and learn the Valley accent that way. Watching a whole bunch of KUWTK really shows dedication!

“I watched a lot of Keeping Up With the Kardashians and The Hills, and I tried to understand the psychology of this kind of girl as much as possible. I didn’t want her to be just a parody. The accent was hard as it was a particular kind of dialect,” explained Watson in one of her interviews.

Emma’s thorough research and sudden (especially in contrast with good old Hermione) transformation into a shallow and materialistic LA girl surprised and impressed the movie’s director Sofia Coppola in the best way possible.

“I think it’s really interesting to see an actress that you’ve seen in other things really transform into a completely different character that’s so different than her. And all of them are so different than the characters in the movie so it’s always exciting to see an actor transform,” shared Coppola.
