To Join The Boys, Jared Padalecki Falls Into the Same Trap as His Supernatural Co-Star Jensen Ackles

Eric Kripke has made quite a name for himself in the TV show world. A Supernatural alum, he didn’t take long to launch another hugely successful show after its finale: The Boys and Gen V are both Kripke’s latest projects, but the writer and producer doesn’t want to walk the walk along. Kripke has already pulled one of his Supernatural stars, Jensen Ackles, into The Boys — and he wants another, too.

But Jared Padalecki has some good-humored demands to join the iconic series.

Padalecki Wants to Look Hot in The Boys

Having worked with Eric Kripke for many years, both the Supernatural lead stars know exactly what such a collaboration implies: they will have to get naked, and they will have to be shredded. Every time the producer reaches out to Jared Padalecki, seeking to add him to the roster once again, the star always gives the same answer.

“[Eric] has reached out to me, and my response to him 90% of the time is, ‘Dude, I'm 41 now with three kids. I'm not 25 and working out three hours a day. I know you're going to f*cking make me get naked, so give me a heads-up. I'm in, but let me get a nutritionist and a trainer and get in the hyperbaric chamber for eight months before you make me show up,’” Padalecki told Collider.

It seems like Jared Padalecki’s totally willing to fall into the same trap as his Supernatural co-star Jensen Ackles.

Ackles Was ‘Crushed’ After Training for The Boys

When Jensen Ackles was invited to join The Boys back in the day, he had the exact same pattern of thinking: “It’s Kripke’s show, so I have to look amazing.” But after months of exhausting workouts and diets, the actor was devastated by the reality.

“I worked out like a madman. The physical preparation was something that I’d never done before. But I think it helped me get there mentally. I get to set and Anthony [Starr]’s like, ‘Why didn’t you just tell him to add muscles to the suit, bro?’ And it just deflated me. Just crushed me. All that effort and it was for really nothing,” Ackles shared later.

Apparently, all Supernatural alums are very self-conscious about their looks: so far, it’s 2/2 by far. When it comes to working with Eric Kripke on The Boys, at least.
