Tired of The "Gut" Cliché? The Rookie Got Something Even Worse
One of The Rookie's characters has her own way of solving cases. And it gives fans the creeps.
The Rookie 's showrunners sensed that they needed to add some juice to season 5, so they've decided to introduce a new rookie to the series, Celina Juarez. But from the first episode she appeared, fans understood: something's off with her.
Celina wasn't a good fit, because of her, let's say, "unconventional" approach to police work. There are just a few examples.
Once she pulled over a car because of its "dark aura." In another episode she found stolen money and was trying to convince everybody that the money is…cursed. All of that based, of course, on "the gut".
As if that wasn't bad enough, she also used her dreams to solve a case. And apparently, she relies on her dreams a lot to help her with her job… (Sweet but Psycho?) Fans were really upset with this kind of "mambo-jambo" new rookie.
"I wish her gut would have her ended like on some final destination sh*t where a bus hits her. Every time she's on I skip," Reddit user crismack58 said.
Well, all that hate from the fandom must have worked, because in the middle of the season she started to be more "normal" and we finally found out her story: the one where her little sister was kidnapped and it was Celina's gut that helped them find her.
And that's why she later used her "gut" as a reason to become a cop.
Still, isn't The Rookie supposed to be about something more real as a cop show? Solving cases because the dream told you how to do it?
No, thanks. The fandom just wants the show to go back to being an old-style police procedural. Because now, it's almost about to "jump the shark", according to fans.
