Timeline Plot Hole? People Are Confused About 'Stranger Things' Season 4 Continuity
The Upside Down – an evil underworld haunting the town of Hawking in 'Stranger Things' – has been one of the show's most cryptic concepts, but sometimes, mysteries turn out to be nothing short of plot holes.

It seems that things surrounding the Upside Down are getting stranger with every new season, as fans are now confused as to how time works in the evil version of our world.
According to what Nancy discovered when she became possessed by Vecna, the Upside Down exists in the past, with the date there frozen on November 6, 1983. This date is important in the show, as two things happened: first, Will Byers vanished on this day, and second, it was the first time when Eleven made physical contact with the Demogorgon.
This, according to one of the fans on Reddit, implies that the Demogorgon massacre and 001's lab massacre occurred on the same day – "which logistically seems pretty difficult to make sense of".
Some fans argue that the Upside Down and the world where Vecna was trapped in are not actually the same thing – particularly due to their different atmospheres.
These tweaks are not necessarily plot holes yet, because we have two more episodes of volume 2 to arrive on July 1, but it certainly seems to not be the only issues that fans have taken with the show's continuity.
