But you should still beware of that icky scene while watching it at home.

Several months after it made so much buzz in the media ahead of its theatrical release, The First Omen has finally arrived on global streaming, finding its home at Hulu platform. The movie became a whole new phenomenon in the world of horror flicks, garnering rave reviews from critics and moviegoers, but also causing a heated discussion about that particular sequence that probably made some viewers immediately leave cinemas back in the day.

Still, those who weren’t able to catch the movie in theaters can now check it out on Hulu and get convinced whether or not it’s indeed one of the best horror films of this year.

What Is The First Omen About?

Released back in April, The First Omen came as a peculiar prequel to the 1976 supernatural horror film The Omen that initially followed a young family whose biological child is replaced by another boy called Damien Thorn soon after the former dies in the hospital.

The more time passes as Damien goes from infantry to childhood, the quicker his parents realize that all the supernatural events that keep happening to their family have a direct connection to their son who is in fact none other than the Antichrist.

In the brand new prequel, the story goes back in time before Damien was brought into his family and follows a young American woman whose work in a Roman church starts giving her more sinister details about the conspiracy that has something to do with Antichrist’s birth.

Despite quite modest results at the box office that got limited to only $53 million against the initial budget of $30 million, The First Omen still succeeded in impressing both critics and viewers, landing scores of 81% and 70% respectively on Rotten Tomatoes.

Upon its theatrical release, the film got into a little trouble when one repugnant birthing scene almost earned it an NC-17 rating which could potentially have a huge impact on The First Omen’s run in cinemas.

Though the movie was eventually lucky to avoid a restrictive rating, many of those who got to see it in theaters still claimed that the scene probably did deserve it, judging by everyone’s reaction to it.

The First Omen can now be streamed on Hulu.
