Is it funny or sad? Beware: your answer might reveal what kind of person you really are.

The chili scene from The Office is considered to be one of the most iconic ones in the entire show. It happened on season 5 episode 26, when Kevin drops an entire pot of homemade chili and spills it all over the office.

To make it even worse, he tries to get as much back into the pot as he can in what is simultaneously funny and a bit painful to watch.

But isn't it also incredibly sad? We know that Kevin spent the entire night pressing garlic for that. The way he spilled over the result of several hours of work is a little bit heart-wrenching, isn't it?

It turns out that The Office fandom is really divided on whether the scene is funny or sad. According to some people, it's both — and that's precisely what adds comedic worth to it.

However, some people have difficulty laughing at it.

"It was not funny at all. Poor guy spent the whole night pressing garlic and dicing tomatoes. He put a lot of effort for his family, which is the office. Made it up the stairs with a large pot full of chili. Spilled it when he was about to put it on his desk. That's what I call SAD," Redditor Mother-Owl9696 argued.

The scene is surely tough to watch if you are an empath — even if you do find it funny.

"I think it's naturally funny, but what makes it funny and sad is because of how relatable it is. Spilling something like chilly on carpet, in an AC office has so much implications tied to it. The scene is so good, it's genius in a way," Redditor emmanuelibus suggested.

That's why we love The Office and laugh at it even without the background giggles common for sitcomes. Yes it is funny when a giant pot of chili gets spilled all over the office carper, but at the same time... ah, Kevin. Same.
