Fans believe The Boys need to lose someone from the main cast to get the show back on track, and they have a wild theory about who that might be.

When in season 1 Hughie killed Translucent, the viewers of The Boys were convinced that the Boys would be killing off members of the Seven as the story progressed. Besides, knowing Homelander's sadistic and narcissistic nature, it seems almost impossible that he hasn't killed anyone from the Boys yet.

The reluctance of the show's creators to kill anyone from the main cast is taking the weight out of the show, fans think. That's why they came up with some pretty convincing theories of who needs to die to make the show more exciting.

The Boys' Character Whose Survival Makes Precisely Zero Sense

One of the theories, believe it or not, was inspired by the music playing in the show. When the creators chose "Only The Good Die Young" for Hughie or Starlight's theme song, some fans thought they were foreshadowing the death of one of these two loveable characters.

And since they can't kill off Hughie, who is essentially the main character illustrating the "average Joe turned hero" trope, fans feel like killing Starlight could become the powerful drive for Hughie's character development.

"Killing Starlight just to see Hughie go off the rails on Temp V and most likely killing an innocent via collateral damage, thus looping his story back to why he started this fight to begin with," the Reddit theory says.

It would be truly shocking, right? And would give so much room for the development of Hughie, his relationship with Butcher, and the group dynamics in The Boys.

Another tragic and shocking possibility would be for Hughie who has become somewhat addicted to Temp V to accidentally kill Starlight while roided up on the super serum. This could become a powerful metaphor for the fight with addiction but would be a little overdramatic and less opportune for the development of Hughie's character and the show in general than the previous theory.

The Boys Theory Suggests Season 3 Alternate Ending Exists

While these ideas are great, fans worry that they are not realistic as long as the characters refuse to stay dead in the show. Since Queen Maeve turned out alive after the deadly clash with Soldier Boy and Black Noir returned to the show – to the delight of many fans – it feels like nobody dies forever in The Boys.
