Peaky Blinders has been the apple of our eye for almost 10 years, and it has won a handful of prestigious awards over the years.

However, it is only this year that the series' lead actor can finally boast his first BAFTA nomination.

Cillian Murphy has received a nod from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts for his role as Thomas Shelby in the final season of our favorite crime drama Peaky Blinders.

The actor is up against Ben Whishaw from This Is Going To Hurt, Chaske Spencer from The English, Gary Oldman from Slow Horses, Martin Freeman from The Responder, and Taron Egerton from Black Bird in the Leading Actor category.

Pretty tough crowd to beat…

While this is Murphy's first BAFTA TV nomination, it is not his first BAFTA ever. In 2007, he was nominated in the Rising Star category at the 60th British Academy Film Awards (and unfortunately lost to Eva Green).

Murphy and Oldman are both first-time TV nominees in this category, while the rest have been praised by the BAFTA before. Well, may the best man win!

We will find out who the best man is on May 14 when the 69th British Academy Television Awards take place at the Royal Festival Hall in London. Only 1,5 months to go!

Cillian Murphy has received the only Peaky Blinders nomination this year, so good luck to him – everyone is betting on him to win.

Fans are overjoyed at the news, saying that the nom is "well-deserved," which is true as the actor is really talented – he is marvelous in everything he is in!

Many agree that Cillian is usually bulletproof evidence that a movie is good if he is cast in it (or at least people will go watch any movie he is in). That is probably the stamp of approval of all the stamps of approval.

Since the show itself came to an end last year, fans are glad to see some recognition for it. For many, Peaky Blinders represents quality television – from the beginning to the very end.

We are among those many, so fingers crossed for Cillian! We know he is worthy of the win.
