This Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Character Makes No Sense (Especially With That Casting)
Easily the show's most confusing mistake.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has earned a fair place in the hearts of fans, mostly because of its characters. They all seem so connected to each other that their acting seems really true to life, it feels like you are not watching a show, but rather following some people's real life on hidden cameras.
You can really feel the chemistry between the characters. And we are not just talking about romance or sexy energy. The scenes between Midge and Joel are hot, sure, but the ones involving Abe and Rose Weissman's interactions are probably the best in the whole series.
They seem so in tune with each other (even when both are falling down in the communication process) that it's hard to imagine them not being partners in real life.
But there is one storyline that fans are not so sure about. It involves Joel's new love interest after Penny Pan, Mei Lin. Mrs. Maisel Reddit is currently full of comments like "Why was she even there?". And seriously, why?
And while some of the show's fans questioned the presence of the character and her being Joel's girlfriend, most of them just didn't like Stephanie Hsu's performance as the character.
“I have no idea if this was the direction was instructed to take or if it was her own creative liberty she imparted on the role. It just did not land for me in the show and the scenes she was in. I just did not enjoy watching her interact with other characters. I don't know how to explain it but listening to her deliver lines didn't flow with the rest of the dialogue,” Redditor chemermaidist shared.
Most fans just point out that there was absolutely no chemistry between MAi and Joel and the whole falling in love and relationship storyline was just forced. And the fact that Lin is no longer a part of season 5 is the only smart decision the writers could have made.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel new episode will hit Prime Video on May 19.
