This Mandalorian Season 3 Theory is Pretty Bonkers, but We're Kinda Into It
Fans on the Internet certainly love to spend time between installments of their favorite films or TV series theorycrafting.
And they do not necessarily restrict the flights of their imagination with common sense or reason when inventing new theories.
But sometimes the more outlandish of their theories also sound pretty fun.
For example, how about one unlikely theory that recently appeared on Reddit? At the end of Season 2 of The Mandalorian Din defeated Moff Gideon and ended up with the Darksaber in his possession. However, despite all the historical significance of the weapon for Mandalorians, Din was never the type to use swords.
So, some fans have speculated Grogu may end up having to wield the Darksaber.
Maybe he would pick up it to save Din at a moment of crisis, thus proving his own potential and strength as a Jedi. Or Grogu may be given the weapon by his guardian, after demonstrating that he is worthy of wielding it.
Which is, of course, rather nonsensical and far-fetched, but not totally impossible, given that Master Yoda's unexpected prowess at lightsaber fighting was well-received at its time. Theoretically – theoretically – showrunners might just decide to throw such a curveball (even if in practice they almost certainly won't).
This Clone Wars Scene Could Make Ahsoka a Villain in The Mandalorian S3
Of course, such a situation would raise hilarious complications. Most importantly, wielding the Darksaber would make Grogu a contender for being the Mandalore, the true leader of Mandalorians. And while this is exactly the reason why such development is unlikely to happen, given the series' attempts to maintain an overall serious mood, it at least would be original and rife with potential plot developments.
But judging by the series so far, and also the recent history with the attempts to introduce plot turns unexpected by the audience in Star Wars ( after The Last Jedi the very words "subverting expectations" became borderline swearwords in much of the fandom), most likely we will get something far more safe and predictable. Which might be for the best, but still from time to time one wonders if space adventures really have to be serious and somber and really have no place for crazier twists.
