This Got to Be The Most Unrealistic Aspect of Stranger Things
Yes, this is a show about supernatural abilities and alternative dimensions, but let's try and think about it.
Stranger Things is a weird combination of the cozy and nostalgic 80s stuff and absolutely terrifying and traumatizing events. It could have been the perfect comfort show if it wasn't for so many heart-wrenching and scary moments — and that's why many people actually wonder how on Earth the main characters are capable of coping with the trauma they have been enduring for four seasons.
The most unrealistic part of Stranger Things, as noted by Twitter user simplytomh, is how Max Mayfield was the only character who was advised to seek psychological help. Surely, Max's trauma is undeniable: after all, she has become Vecna's main target in season 4 for a reason. But pretty much everyone from the Hawkins gang had to also go through terrifying stuff.
For instance, Will Byers, who actually had to spend a lot of time in the Upside Down and under the influence of the Mind Flayer, has not been granted even a minute of a conversation with a therapist. And for Eleven, who struggles to adapt to normal teenage life after what she's been through, the only person to confide in is her boyfriend Mike.
Which Stranger Things Character Are You Based On Your Zodiac Sign?
Some people have suggested that there might be several reasons behind the lack of therapists' concern towards the Stranger Things characters. Firstly, the show's events take place around 70-80s, and this was not exactly the time when mental health awareness was at its peak. But there is also another thing.
"[Max's] trauma had a non-supernatural explanation and her symptoms were very very obvious. Will couldn't get help bc he'd have no way of telling a therapist about what happened," Twitter user gayerthings11 noted.
Still, pretty much every character in Stranger Things could use some therapy, and the fact that only Max was advised to seek it does not sit well with fans. However, some people are lowkey hopeful that if the government finds out about the Upside Down (clearly it's becoming more and more challenging to keep it a secret), then more of its victims would be able to seek psychological help.
We Won't Get Stranger Things Season 5 Sooner Than Summer 2024
But first, the Hawkins gang has to deal with Vecna, who is still out there, craving everyone's blood. The upcoming fifth season will be the final one for Stranger Things, so there is a massive emotional rollercoaster coming.
The premiere date for Stranger Things 5 is yet to be scheduled by Netflix.
