We Won't Get Stranger Things Season 5 Sooner Than Summer 2024
It's going to be a long and excruciating wait.
One of the most anticipated TV series – Stranger Things – will start filming Season 5 next spring in May, which means we will most likely be able to enjoy the final season in 2024.
The news was published by Production Weekly and started making waves on Twitter via the Stranger Things fan-run account Stranger Things Spoilers.
In his recent interview, one of the show's stars, David Harbour, confirmed that the plan was to start filming in 2023.
"I think we'll [shoot] next year. They're finishing writing it this year, and they need to prep and stuff, so hopefully it'll be this year. But I think that's the plan. So, it'd probably come out mid-2024, based on our track record," the Jim Hopper actor told GQ.
The filming will reportedly continue in Atlanta, just like the previous seasons, and Season 5 will be the last in the Stranger Things franchise. Matt and Ross Duffer, the creators of the series, recently teased the opening episode of the upcoming season, titled "Chapter One: The Crawl". What can we expect from the final season?
In an interview with Collider editor-in-chief Steve Weintraub this summer, the Duffer brothers said exactly this:
"Season 5 is going to start pedal to the metal. We're not going to do the ramp-up. There's no time. There's no normalcy, obviously, once you've reached the end of four. It's just going to be going 100 miles an hour from the beginning."
Writing started in August, exactly when the Duffer brothers promised, so it looks like there will be no delays. The brothers also teased the opening scene, saying it was pretty wild, but the question is whether it will remain unchanged.
Which Stranger Things Character Are You Based On Your Zodiac Sign?

And American Horror Story will get its 13th season.
Season 2 of another smash hit, House of the Dragon, will most likely also debut in 2024, if HBO boss Casey Bloys is to be believed. And speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, The Rings of Power showrunner Patrick McKay said they expect to work on Season 2 for "another couple of years, which will also land the release in 2024.
