This General Hospital Character Was Supposed To Be Gone In Two Days, Stayed For 12 Years Instead
Some may call it coincidence, but others believe it's fate.
Although many actors are eager to expand the appeal of their roles by taking on completely different characters over the years of their careers, some don't mind developing a character over the years.
After all, just like in real life, characters who go through a lot tend to change, grow, and become more complex and complicated over the years.
However, not everyone is lucky enough to get the role of a lifetime. Soaps are probably the best bet for any actor to experience this.
Tristan Rogers, who has portrayed Robert Scorpio from 1980 to the present day, certainly did not expect such a long journey when he joined General Hospital.
The actor was not prepared for either the length of time he would be on the show or the popularity that would come with it. During his interview with That's Awesome, Rogers said:
"While I would not trade a minute of it, I did not realize that this two-day shoot would turn into a role that would explode the way it [did] and one that I would play for decades."
That's right, Robert Scorpio was only supposed to be a character for a few days, but the actor's charisma, his involvement in a storyline of one of the most adored couples throughout the years, Luke and Laura, and his overall Bond-like presence did wonders for the audience.
Not only did Robert Scorpio remain in the show from 1980 to 1992, but he made many more comebacks throughout the modern years, with each one becoming a treat for the audience.
Now, in General Hospital's 60th anniversary year, fans have been promised a number of nostalgic comebacks and appearances, so it was only fair for Tristan Rogers to reprise his iconic role and stay present during the run.
Stay tuned to ABC Monday through Friday to find out what else Robert Scorpio's future holds!
