This Death in House of the Dragon Episode 6 Was Just Unfair
Remember the rules: don't get too attached to the Game of Thrones universe's characters.
Warning: the following article contains spoilers for House of the Dragon episode 6
Episode 6 was quite merciless to the fans of Sir Harwin Strong. While his chemistry with Princess Rhaenyra was quite obvious for everyone, people got their hopes up that they are to see more of their interaction as a couple, albeit a clandestine one.
However, Sir Harwin has happened to have beaten up Sir Criston Cole — a knight who, while instructing the children of Alicent and Rhaenyra, openly undermined and mocked Jahaerys — the son of Rhaenyra and Harwin.
When Cole teased Harwin that he paid too much attention to how Jahaerys fights and alleged that he was the true father of the kid and not Laenor Velaryon, Harwin went ballistic and attacked Cole.
At first, it would seem that his outburst was nothing than just another subject for corridor whispers, but Queen Alicent and Larys Strong appeared to have come up with a plan to get rid of Harwin nevertheless. At some point after Harwin was exiled back to Harrenhal with his father, he was trapped inside his room and fell victim to a fire which was apparently set by Larys — who clearly does not seem to mind killing two of the men closest to him, his own brother and father.
"Larys Strong, there's no worse crime than kinslaying in Westeros. See you in hell." – @rhaegarlya
The entire situation around Sir Harwin caused outrage among fans, who deemed it unfair that he was even exiled in the first place.
"How did Harwin get expelled from the city watch for throwing a couple punches but Ser Criston received no consequences for killing a man in cold blood at a WEDDING?" – @oochotd
Even though Alicent made it clear to Larys that she "did not wish for this", fans unleashed their hate towards them both. There is hardly a man in House of the Dragon who fans wish to see die more than Larys Strong.
After all, Sir Harwin did get a moment of happiness with Rhaenyra after she just gave birth to another child that she and Laenor desperately try to pose as their own. However, the departure of Harwin and the rumors circulating around the family have planted the seed of doubt even into young Jahaerys, who has already asked his mother if he was a "bastard".
House of the Dragon is streaming on HBO Max, with new episodes arriving every Sunday.
