This Character Death Proves to be the Biggest TWD Mistake
The Walking Dead series fans are perpetually upset, and it is not only because the AMC made a rather disappointing decision that Season 11 will be the final one in the American post-apocalyptic horror franchise. It is also because the final episodes turned out to be disappointing as well.
One would expect a grand finale from such a popular show but fans believe the final episodes are struggling to impress the viewers. There're 24 episodes in total in the last season and one of the final ones, Episode 20 What's Been Lost, for instance, is just a waste of time, some fans say.
The key complaints are that the storyline moves slowly, the direction it goes is unclear and there's much talking and little action on screen, something which is equally true for Episode 22 Outpost.
The fans are also angry with the way the writers treat the characters of the show. One of the greatest shocks for the fans was the kill-off of Lance Hornsby played by Josh Hamilton. Most TWD fans on Reddit suggested that he should have been the biggest villain (not Pamela) and that Lance's killing by Carol reunited with Daryl was a huge mistake. We've all hoped to see Lance in one of The Walking Dead teased spinoffs. But you know the writers should know better, don't they?
And it does not end there.
Some believe it was the killing of Carl Grimes, an important character central to the comic books, that was the biggest TWD producers' mistake. Carl's death in Season 8 is what most of the fans were unhappy with, and judging by where the storyline brought us in Season 11, Grimes could have been significant for TWD finale – yes, he dreamt about the unification of Alexandria, the Kingdom and Oceanside.
And it is not only the killing itself but the way he died. One redditor believes it was beyond dumb because Carl knows how to handle himself around walkers so it just doesn't make sense for him to get bit like that. It was the worst decision the show ever made, echoes another user saying that after Carl's kill-off they just stopped watching the show. When Carl died it felt like all the build-up and the plot development Carl went through was totally pointless.
The Walking Dead series is based on the comic books with the same name created by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. The show follows survivors of a zombie apocalypse trying to stay alive. They have to repel numerous attacks by zombies called "walkers" and confront other humans who live in their communities with their own laws.
New episodes of The Walking Dead air Sundays on AMC and stream a week early on AMC+.
