This Bridgerton Newcomer Might've Just Spoiled the Upcoming Benedict Arc
Is he going to be the main season 4 character?
Summary:
- Bridgerton is a romantic period TV series based on the book series by Julia Quinn.
- Although the show is based on the books, it has already changed the order in which the siblings go, prompting fans to guess about the season 4 lead.
- Some fans believe they have cracked an upcoming Benedict Bridgerton storyline through the interview of his co-star, Hannah New.
Even though the Bridgerton fandom has 9 books on which to base their assumptions about the upcoming seasons, they are still left in the dark about some important details. Of course, as with any adaptation, the show's creators tend to make changes to the story to fit the new format.
From adding new characters to expand the ensemble storyline to cutting out the controversial scenes that don't hold up today and replacing them with something new, the changes are inevitable. And even though we haven't seen Benedict Bridgerton's full story yet, there are already some differences from the book series.
Who Will Play Sophie in Bridgerton?
In Benedict's book, An Offer From a Gentleman, Benedict ends up with his love interest named Sophie Beckett. Without giving away too many spoilers, the couple spends a few years before finally giving in to their feelings and ending all the back and forth.
Sophie's casting has been one of the most anticipated announcements in the fandom for years, but so far the team behind the show has been tight-lipped. Instead, Benedict is about to make another acquaintance in season 3 that may lead him directly to Sophie later in the show. Possibly in season 4, where he could be the lead.
Hannah New, the actress known to many from the pirate adventure show Black Sails, is a new addition to the Bridgerton cast. Her character, Lady Tilley Arnold, a widow who doesn't deny herself the pleasures of life, catches Benedict's eye.
Many people assumed she wasn't too happy in her marriage, as many women in the Regency era weren't. However, in her recent interview with PIX11 News, New claimed the opposite:
“The ton is kind of run by the widows. She had a love marriage before, but she enjoys coming out in society. She is someone who is very sex-positive, someone who is very confident, someone who controls her own estate,” she said.
While Benedict's fans weren't too happy about him getting another romantic interest, given his involvement with Madame Delacroix in season 1 and fellow painter and model Tessa in season 2, this confession changes the way they view their relationships.
Perhaps knowing how great true love feels, Lady Tilley could explain to Benedict that his pursuit of quick pleasures can't compare to the happiness that true love brings to one's life, and set him on the path to discovering that love... in the next season.
Whether this is true, or whether the mysterious figure of the widow holds more secrets than viewers can imagine, we will have to find out in Bridgerton season 3. The first part is out today, May 16, and the second part is coming out on June 13, so tune in to Netflix to see how the season goes.
