This Annoying Chicago Med's Character is Nowhere Near Exiting His Villain Era (And Fans Had Enough)
The One Chicago franchise offers a lot of different characters, but it looks like irredeemable villains are the creators' favorites.
Chicago Med fans love the show for its intricate storylines, the realistic hospital atmosphere created by the actors, and most of all, for the characters. But there is one character that creeps fans out with his personality.
The thing is, he never showed any kind of personal growth throughout the series. Yes, we are talking about Dr. Dean Archer, amazingly played by Steven Weber.
In the middle of season 6, he grew up to be an emergency room surgeon. But as it turns out, that's the only advancement he'll ever get, both as a human and a doctor.
In the same season, he showed the fans that he is not only great at operating with a sharp knife, but can also easily cut through his colleagues with his sharp words.
Insults, snarky comments, lazy compliments with a smirk – it all counts. He never bothers to think twice when it comes to showing his disdain for the medical skills of those he works with.
The same goes for his doctor-patient interactions. Episode after episode, he proves to be the worst, even if the fans think there is no way it is actually possible. And seems like it was all along the writers' idea.
"It's not even that he's annoying which he is but he's also conniving as f**k. His character is just very slimy, waiting on his redemption arc though cause there's no way he's gonna stay a series regular like this unless he's the antagonist," Reddit useringie05 said.
It looks like some characters just won't get any development and will remain evil and unlikable forever. But is it really a good strategy for a show?
Well, we do love to hate some characters, but it seems that Dr. Archer is not such a case. Can we maybe just get rid of him if there's no redemption arc in the future?..
