Marvel Studios is beating another record.

Summary:

  • X-Men ’97, a brand new project from Marvel Studios, has reached 4 million views on Disney+ within several days thus becoming a new record-breaker for the platform.
  • The show is a revival of the original X-Men: The Animated Series that recently also received a lot of attention among viewers ahead of X-Men '97’s release.
  • Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige insisted that the X-Men: The Animated Series original cast return to voice their characters, which they did — and also gave their voices to some new faces that appear in the series.

It’s been only five days since X-Men '97 has been released on Disney+, but the series is already demonstrating impressive results having reached 4 million views so far. This is more than What If…?, another MCU ’s successful show, has managed to get within the same time.

X-Men '97 comes as a revival for the original series called X-Men: The Animated Series. The predecessor has also got a lot of attention — being on air from October 1992 to September 1997, the show received accolades from both viewers and critics keeping the score of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Before X-Men '97 was released last week, the original series had received a never-seen-before increase in the views climbing higher than 500% for all five seasons combined.

The revival, in its turn, is not left behind either — several days after the official release it stays with none less than 98% on Rotten Tomatoes receiving good reviews one after another.

As X-Men ’97’s executive producer Brad Winderbaum revealed, What If…?’s season 1’s success was a definite green light for yet another animated show. The X-Men: The Animated Series’s revival was already in the creators’ mind, but Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige stipulated for two things appearing in the new series after which he would let it be — the return of the original cast and the song.

For Winderbaum and his team these two conditions didn’t seem to be exigeant.

And so, the brand new series now features yet again some very well-known members of the original cast that gave their voices not only to the returning main characters, but also to some new ones.
