Till death do them part.

In addition to Pilot and Finale, which have been used thousands of times in different TV shows, there are other titles that have become so commonplace on television that they've lost their uniqueness. Let's take a closer look at these overused episode titles whose time to retire has come.

1. Lost and Found

Appearing on several shows, including Supernatural and Grey's Anatomy, this title typically refers to episodes in which characters rediscover something important, whether it's a long-lost item, a memory, or even a person. While effectively capturing the subject, it was used so often that it started to lack the element of surprise.

2. Tabula Rasa

Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Lost, Criminal Minds, and many others have all used this phrase at least once. Latin for "blank slate," this title, which is used in therapy as well, often refers to episodes in which the characters experience a loss of memory or are given the chance for a fresh start. While the title is appropriate for such episodes, it's become a go-to choice that could use a break.

3. The Beginning of the End

As a title, The Beginning of the End clearly indicates that a show is nearing its conclusion or major turning point. However, its frequent appearance, including on shows such as Ozark, Orange Is the New Black, and Lost can diminish the impact of such moments, while fresh titles can generate more excitement and curiosity about where the show is headed.

4. Sacrifice

Supernatural, Arrow, Battlestar Galactica, and many others have all explored themes of sacrifice a few times. Often referring to episodes in which characters perform significant selfless acts for the greater good, Sacrifice is a powerful concept, but its ubiquity in episode titles makes it lose some of its emotional weight.

5. Happily Ever After

Episodes of shows like Charmed, How I Met Your Mother, and Grey's Anatomy have used this title to explore the characters' desire for the perfect fairy-tale ending. While it effectively encapsulates these wishes, it has become a somewhat predictable choice that immediately lays all the cards on the table.
