Sometimes it's just too painful to rewatch, but you can't skip it either.

Grey's Anatomy has been on the air for 16 years and has made its viewers cry many times, with major and minor characters suffering all kinds of tragedies.

Since the show revolves around the medical facility, it's more likely than not that someone's story will end less than happily.

But this heartbreaking drama is what keeps the show going for so many seasons.

Viewers can't get enough of Grey's Anatomy's heartbreaking moments, and the Reddit discussion, which started recently but already has more than 80 examples, is the perfect illustration of that.

Of course, many viewers immediately remembered the plane crash episode (season 8, episode 24) and its aftermath with Christina's scene in the bathtub and Mark Sloan hooked up to life support.

Other episodes full of such moments would be the two parts of the season 6 finale that revolved around the story of the mass shooting at the hospital.

The audience doesn't get a chance to take a break from all the injuries suffered by their favorites as Gary Clark, the killer, makes his way through the hospital floors.

Gary in the elevator asking Cristina for directions to Derek's office, Bailey hiding under the patient's bed in fear for her life, Derek being unplugged during surgery – the list of stomach-churning moments from these two episodes could easily go on.

Not only was the season 6 finale particularly heartbreaking, but the season as a whole focused on a very traumatic topic for many.

Throughout the season, viewers followed Richard Webber's story of alcoholism, relapse, and the ugly consequences of it all, including firing Izzie, trying to fire Derek, and getting into a car accident that could have easily been fatal.

Thankfully, it's in Shonda Rhimes' fashion to mix in these chilling moments with the good ones, giving fans a sense of relief even in harder times.

If you are in the mood to experience these emotions again, you can stream Grey's Anatomy on Disney Plus, ESPN Plus, and Hulu. Or tune in on ABC on Thursdays to not miss any new episodes.
