You thought this would never happen, didn't you? Same here. But we finally have an official statement from at least one of the two sides of the mysterious conflict!

The Witcher controversy has been going on for what seems like forever by this point.

The conflict between Henry Cavill, the lead actor and the fan-favorite Geralt of Rivia, and the show's showrunner Lauren Hissrich started soon after the beginning of The Witcher, and we've heard many stories about it from behind the scenes.

After all the drama, the announcement that Cavill was leaving the show didn't come as much of a surprise; it was still painful, nonetheless.

The audience still can't get over losing their beloved Geralt after S3, and the fans are even starting petitions to get the actor back and fire the writers instead. This doesn't help, of course.

While everyone's fairly certain what the reasons behind Henry's quit were, we've never got any official comment on that either from the actor himself or from The Witcher's showrunner.

It's been long enough that we all thought they would keep trying to pretend like this never happened, but suddenly, Hissrich addressed it.

In a recent interview, Lauren Hissrich was asked about Henry Cavill's leave and how it will impact the future of the show, and the showrunner actually gave some answers… Even though they were totally vague.

Regarding the reasons for Cavill's quit, she simply said: "It was time for him in his life to move on."

As for the future of the series, the showrunner went a bit more in-depth about her thought process behind replacing Henry with a different actor.

"We had the choice to have Geralt exit and to end the show. That's not something that we were willing to do. There's just too many stories left to tell. If we replaced Geralt with another Witcher, we would be going fully away from the books, and I don't think that's what anyone wanted either," explained Hissrich.

Lauren already has her new Geralt of Rivia lined up: Liam Hemsworth (Gale from The Hunger Games ) will inherit the role of the legendary Witcher starting from S4.

"We're all excited about Liam coming in. He's got enormous shoes to fill, but also has a lot of energy and a lot of excitement for it," commented the showrunner.

Henry Cavill's been known for his passion for The Witcher's universe (which was one of the reasons behind his conflict with Lauren Hissrich).

But according to the showrunner, Liam Hemsworth is also very passionate about taking over the role, so we can only hope this works out in the end.

We'll still miss Henry, though.
