The Witcher Season 4 to Be Delayed, Reports Claim
Never mind all the plans: it appears that the next season of Netflix's The Witcher is getting stalled quite significantly, and we shouldn't be expecting it to release until well into 2025.
With all the drama, questionable decisions, and backlashes from the fans, the audience of Netflix 's The Witcher is dwindling even further with each season. Season 3 saw its viewership decline even against already not-so-popular season 2, and the projections of the show's future don't look well in the slightest.
However, even despite the phenomenal decline in popularity, The Witcher's showrunner doesn't exactly want to adjust her plans. Season 4 is already set in stone and it's happening no matter what: with Liam Hemsworth and even fewer viewers thanks to Henry Cavill 's exit from the series.
Yes, S4 is definitely happening, but the real question is, when. According to the latest reports, Liam Hemsworth's Geralt of Rivia may not see the light of the day for a couple of years as the next season's production is stalling.
Previously, The Witcher was set to begin rolling S4 on September 4, 2023 (Do you also see the cheekiness here or is it just us?), but according to Redanian Intelligence, the winds have changed, and the production team postponed the start of the shooting until early 2024.
While the reasons have not been officially disclosed, it's safe to assume that the delay has to do with the currently-ongoing double strike of the Writer's and Actor's Guilds of America.
This kind of makes sense. Though the majority of The Witcher's cast is British, there's a potential problem with Liam Hemsworth, the new Geralt himself. Liam is Australian, but since his career has mostly been involved with American movies, it's more than likely that he's a member of SAG-AFTRA, which would make it impossible for him to act in The Witcher's S4 now.
This should answer that question, but we're curious...
