And no, it's not bringing back Henry Cavill for season 4.

The second season of The Witcher ended on a high note. But not everyone was happy about it.

According to Geralt, Yennefer betrayed him and Ciri, and as reported, season 3 will begin with the Witcher's refusal to communicate with the sorceress.

Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer will spend most of season 3 on the road. They have to be constantly on the move to avoid getting caught, so a possible visit to Arethusa will be short.

Yen will try to make peace with Geralt, who has not yet forgiven her for her betrayal – even though she framed Ciri under the influence of Deathless Mother.

It was the arc of the relationship between Geralt and Yennefer that caused the most criticism among the viewers of the second season, as it deviated too much from the original source and brought the interaction of the two characters to a point where they seemed unable to restore trust.

Considering the fact that Geralt and Yennefer's relationship is canon and an undeniable favorite pairing among book and game fans, we can imagine the responsibility that lies on the shoulders of the writers.

For this reason, they seem to have listened to the dissatisfaction of the fans, and will reportedly fix what angered the fans the most after the end of the second season.

According to unconfirmed information by Redanian Intelligence, the third season will begin with the interaction between Geralt and Yennefer and the latter's attempts to regain the Witcher's trust.

She will send him letters that will gradually melt his heart. In the end, Yennefer will achieve her goal – the relationship with Geralt will improve and he will trust her again to teach Ciri.

The second season is nominally an adaptation of the third book, Blood of Elves. However, the writers did not show even half of the events of that volume, and instead came up with their own global story about Voleth Meir.

Series showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich explained this decision by saying that they needed to create a main villain that would connect the three main characters, but in a way that would keep them from appearing together on screen.

As many already know, the third season of The Witcher will be the last for Henry Cavill as Geralt. Moreover, one can only guess how much the writers will deviate from the books this time.

The third season of The Witcher will be released in the summer of 2023.
