The Witcher S3 Feels Like a Different Show, But Isn't It Too Late for Changes?
The third season of The Witcher is finally out, and the fans are unbelievably happy with it — however, the showrunner might've missed the right time to fix the series.
The OG Witcher fans have been let down too many times by Netflix 's attempts at adapting the franchise: The Witcher 's first two seasons and the spin-offs like Blood Origins and The Nightmare of the Wolf have been continuously ignoring the core aspects of both the books and the games for too long for comfort.
The Witcher S3 Vol. 1 has been largely promoted by the showrunner and the main cast as the point of no return in terms of the show's quality and loyalty to the source material.
Lauren Hissrich, Anya Chalotra, and Freya Allan have been repeatedly promising to stay close to The Time of Contempt, but there were many doubts.
Despite the fact that many fans were already past the point of trusting the creators of The Witcher, it seems like this time, they actually followed through with their promises.
The Witcher S3 finally came out, and it's nothing short of amazing. The third season feels like a completely different show altogether: it features stunning locations, witty dialogues, improved pacing, and great relationship development.
At the same time, S3 is truly very close to The Time of Contempt, which is a shocker.
The only thing that's left questionable is the costuming: those jokes about H&M are very much relevant as the characters are wearing the most unbelievably out-of-place attire at times.
Still, since it's the only real downside, we're almost ready to overlook it entirely to put more words into praising the positive sides of the third season.
If you've given up on The Witcher a long time ago, we're almost begging you to give S3 a shot: we're certain it won't disappoint you.
While we were skeptical just a week ago, after the release, the third season turned out to be the best The Witcher series has ever seen so far.
Still, even amid all the excitement, we can't help but feel like it's too late for the show to improve.
Though the showrunner did a great job with the third season, The Witcher has already lost too many viewers thanks to the incoherency of the first two — and is bound to lose even more after S3 with Cavill's fans leaving in bunches.
Everyone's been yelling at the showrunner to take the lead actor's words into consideration, but Hissrich chose war with him.
In the end, she still had to follow through with Henry Cavill 's approach, but she'd already lost him and a large chunk of the audience… This is really unfortunate — almost tragic — for the series.
But for now, Henry is there, and S3 is phenomenal, so definitely give it a shot.
