Everyone in the Wizarding World treated the Weasley family like some borderline magical beggars. But facts tell a very different story if you pay closer attention.

The Weasleys may not have had the most money, but they were thriving. Arthur was a respected member of the Order of the Phoenix despite his relatively low stature in the Ministry. Molly was a stay-at-home mother and she was killing it, despite having been an incredibly talented witch. And most importantly, they loved their family.

Mr. and Mrs. Weasley immediately spent their insane Daily Prophet’s prize to take everyone to Egypt to visit their elder son. They valued their kids above all the money in the world and raised them right, and their attitude bore fruit — not just emotionally but financially, too. Here are five facts revealing that the Weasleys did, in fact, thrive.

5. Bill Weasley Built an Amazing Career

The eldest son in his family, Bill Weasley could be a role model not just for his siblings but for any kid in the Wizarding World. At Hogwarts, he served as a Prefect and Head Boy and had great marks. Bill passed his exams with flying colors and immediately started a successful career that required advanced magical skills.

Bill worked as a Curse-Breaker for Gringotts and he was exceptionally good at his job, earning more than enough to fully fund his own family. In that department, he was well-set, too: Bill had a beautiful wife, three kids, and a house on a beach.

4. Charlie Weasley Followed His Passion

Charlie largely followed the example of his elder brother. At Hogwarts, he served as a Prefect and a Quidditch Captain, being great both at studies and sports. His achievements were so promising that many saw him as the next big Quidditch star, but Charlie chose to follow his true passion: he wanted to work with dragons.

After Hogwarts, that was exactly what he did. Charlie went to Romania and dedicated his life to the scaly beasts he admired, where he remained happy and well-paid for his efforts. Charlie’s life was an illustration of following one’s passion.

3. Percy Weasley Was a High-Ranking Ministry Official

Seeing his brothers’ success, Percy Weasley cared more about making it in life than anything else. From his Hogwarts years (when he served as a Prefect and Head Boy, like Bill), Percy wanted to build a career in the Ministry of Magic. This led to his dramatic falling out with the rest of his family, but they mended the fences later.

Having already had a brilliant track record as a Ministry of Magic employee, Percy followed his father’s path and built a career there, eventually becoming Head of the Department of Magical Transportation. Another successful career to add to the list.

2. Fred and George Weasley Built a Thriving Business

The Weasley twins lacked the academic inclinations of their elder brothers but were amazing at Quidditch at Hogwarts. Fred and George dropped out of school before graduating only to immediately open their own shop — Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes — that brought a fortune their way thanks to their unique business acumen.

The most talented wizards in their family, Fred and George developed and invented numerous artifacts, potions, and other magical items. When they became the richest Weasleys, they never became full of themselves and valued family above all else.

1. Ginny Weasley Became a Quidditch Star

Skipping Ron because of his plot importance, we have Ginny Weasley — the long-awaited only daughter of the family and the youngest siblings. Like the twins, she was indifferent to academic success but loved sports. At Hogwarts, Ginny played as a Seeker and a Chaser and served as a Quidditch Captain for some time.

After graduating, Ginny Weasley dedicated her life to sports and became a professional Quidditch player. Having accumulated enough star power, she retired to work as a Sports Editor for the Daily Prophet and raise her and Harry Potter ’s kids.
