No, no one is One-Piece-ing Jujutsu Kaisen yet. But maybe someone should?

Summary:

  • Jujutsu Kaisen is a huge anime hit from the MAPPA studio which recently released its second season
  • After the success of One Piece live-action animation at Netflix, many people believe Jujutsu Kaisen could be the perfect anime to adapt next
  • While not all fans are on board with the idea, there is a perfect fan cast that includes The Sandman star Boyd Holbrook

Even if you are far from a huge anime fan, you have probably heard (or been forced to hear) about hits like Attack on Titan or Jujutsu Kaisen.

Whether you're a Satoru Gojo fan or can't stand these people, you can't deny it: Jujutsu Kaisen is a big deal these days, and it wouldn't be surprising if it's next in line for a live-action adaptation.

So far, there has been no news of Netflix or other streaming giants getting their hands on a potential Jujutsu Kaisen live-action. However, some fans have been discussing their dream casts for the project (even though others hate the chance of it happening).

We're not even talking about fan casting idols like Gojo or Geto; this time, we're talking about Kento Nanami. If you saw The Sandman and loved its villain as much as we did, you probably know what we mean.

Boyd Holbrook Is a Perfect Fit For Kento Nanami

In The Sandman, Holbrook portrayed a rogue nightmare, Corinthian, who decided to wreak havoc on Earth after escaping Morpheus' realm. Neil Gaiman 's character looks a lot like Kento Nanami, a former Tokyo Jujutsu High student who eventually gave up sorcery (only to return later).

Like Nanami, Corinthian wears light-colored suits and dark glasses (though Kento is distinguished by the fact that he actually has eyes). However, the two have strikingly different personalities: while Corinthian is menacingly charming, even playful, Kento Nanami is reserved and even stern.

There Are 2 Problems With Holbrook Fan Cast

The first problem with Holbrook possibly portraying Kento Nanami is the character's personality. He's perfect when it comes to looks, but Nanami is far too different. However, if you believe in Boyd's acting talent, this problem is not as big as the next one.

Many fans believe that if Jujutsu Kaisen ever gets an adaptation, Kento should be portrayed by a Japanese man. Others argue that the fact that Nanami is partly Danish serves as a justification for casting Boyd Holbrook.

Still, the very idea of the Jujutsu Kaisen live-action mainly gets one response from the fandom: stop making live-action adaptations of anime. Even if they're as good as Netflix's One Piece was.
