The Only General Hospital Character Whose Future Has Fans Up In Arms
Have any ideas who that might be?
Soap operas tend to have huge fandoms filled with random people representing different generations. And one of the longest-running soaps of our time, General Hospital, is no exception.
The show premiered on ABC in 1963 and has been one of the top-rated shows in the country ever since. From time to time, however, fans get annoyed with various characters and the way their stories are handled in the series.
But this is no surprise – soap operas are basically a treasure trove of ridiculous storylines and plot twists.
One of the characters that has been on everyone's mind for the past few years is Nina Reeves. The woman has been through so many trials and tribulations that fans are not really united on where her arc should go next.
Some fans feel that the soap will only benefit from her absence and that it's time for the writers to kill her off, for example by sending her to a mental institution. Because she's been in a lot of drama, she has no friends, there's no relationship with her recently introduced daughter, and she lost her husband. Really, who could handle that much?
“I think it’s for the best. Nina’s run her course as a character and the whole daughter reveal was a major flop and Willow seems to have absolutely no interest in trying to reconcile with her birth mom or knowing anything about her birth family,” Redditor MissPhoenixGirl92 said.
Still, there are many fans who feel that sending her off into the void is not the best option. Many viewers mention that there's still a lot of untapped potential in her character, and that killing her off without at least giving her a proper storyline is not the way to go.
“It would be the laziest and least imaginative path to continue to have Nina lose everything and that puts her back locked away. I would hate to see that. They need to stop focusing on tearing characters down and instead shift gears towards more dynamic storytelling. Nina is due a win when it comes to family. They tortured her enough,” Redditor NightBard said.
Well, I guess we'll just have to hope that the writers of General Hospital figure out a way to meet the expectations of both groups of fans, if that's possible.
