Without these characters, George Lucas' universe will never be the same.

In the world of Star Wars, many iconic heroes and villains have met their fated end. In the last century, audiences mourned Obi-Wan and a remorseful Darth Vader; in the early 2000s, fans said goodbye to Padmé; and even Disney managed to add an element of tragedy to A Galaxy Far Far Away.

These characters' deaths were devastating and had the biggest impact on the galaxy.

3. Han Solo

The death of the iconic smuggler was a huge loss for many fans of George Lucas' universe. Han Solo was one of the most beloved Star Wars characters, so his appearance on screen slightly offset the disappointment of The Force Awakens (2015).

His death at the hands of his own son, Kylo Ren, marked the end of a beautiful era for the galaxy and the beginning of a new dictatorship led by the First Order.

2. Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor

In Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, audiences witnessed the birth of the legendary heroes who stole the Death Star plans.
The story revolves around Jyn Erso, the daughter of the chief engineer of a destructive technology designed to annihilate the galaxy.

The protagonist accidentally falls in with the Resistance, where she meets Cassian Andor. Together they embark on a deadly mission to steal the blueprints to the deadly weapon and help stop the ruthless Empire.

The main action takes place just before A New Hope (1977), so fans understood that the characters would die at the end of the movie. However, the incredibly sad moment when Jyn and Cassian sit on the beach holding hands in anticipation of the imminent demise just can't leave anyone indifferent.

1. Count Dooku

An unexpected choice, but viewers still can't forget the incredible battle between Anakin and Yoda's former apprentice, played by the legendary Christopher Lee.

At the very beginning of Revenge of the Sith (2005), the young Skywalker confronts Count Dooku to free the Chancellor. The future Vader has no trouble with the villain. But when Palpatine orders Anakin to get rid of the Sith, fans see shock and pain in Dooku's eyes.

The villain realizes that everything he's done, everyone he's killed, and all the things he's given up have been for nothing.

Dooku has always followed his inner convictions and tried to do what is best for the galaxy, destroying civilians, Jedi, and even sacrificing his best friend, but in the end, he faced the betrayal of his Master.

This moment was also the starting point for Anakin's transformation into the terrifying Darth Vader.
