The fan favored clone crime lord is at it again.

A recent Facebook post from Star Wars Hong Kong finally resolves a popular fan dispute. Boba Fett, a clone bounty hunter who first appeared in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and most recently in his own spin-off series, The Book of Boba Fett (2021-2022), has been confirmed to appear in the third season of The Mandalorian.

His appearance has been anticipated by fans and was first teased with the release of Empire Magazine's subscriber-exclusive issue dedicated to The Mandalorian, which featured his signature helmet as well as those of the other characters in the series. The only question now is how big a role he will play in the events of the upcoming season.

The last time viewers saw the character in action was on the desert world of Tatooine during the events of his own spin-off series, when Boba rose to the top of the local criminal food chain, eventually becoming the planet's daimyo (not without the help of some familiar faces from the main series).

With a newly acquired criminal empire to take care of, one might think that the character would disappear from the events of The Mandalorian, possibly appearing in the second season of the spin-off (which has yet to be confirmed), but apparently not anymore.

This turn of events potentially sets up several interesting plot points.

First, it would be great to see the development of Boba's relationship with Din Djarin, the series' protagonist. Fans have loved seeing them in action together, but there are still plenty of opportunities to deepen both characters. Second, with the events of the third season taking place on the planet Mandalore, it would be interesting to see how the locals react to Boba being a clone.

During the events of season 2, Bo-Katan, a native of the planet, referred to himself and his father, Jango, as "not Mandalorian." Fans are still speculating about the true meaning of this, but it is clear that this type of prejudice is not unique to Bo-Katan. So some trouble is to be expected.

Fortunately, fans will get answers soon. The Mandalorian season 3 launches March 1 on Disney Plus.
