The List of All the New Anime Coming to Netflix in March 2024
The theme for March seems to be, 'Familiar Worlds, New Faces'.
1. Pokémon Horizons: The Series (Season 1)
Number of Episodes: 40
Drops on Netflix: March 7
This is the 26th season of the always-popular Pokémon series, and first one that doesn't focus on Ash Ketchum and his beloved Pikachu.
In the first episode, a shy girl named Liko arrives at the Indigo Academy to begin her training. She chooses Sprigatito as her starter Pokémon, though at first they don't get along very well. When Liko meets a stranger from a group calling themselves 'The Explorers', his interest in her pendant – an old family heirloom – sets off alarm bells for Liko, who jumps off of a roof and is rescued by a passing airship.
The series follows Liko, her Sprigatito, and her friend/stowaway Roy, whose pokeballs seem to react to Liko's mysterious pendant.
Although Junichi Masuda and Ken Sugimori aren't credited as creators on this series, it will finish the arc of Pokémon Ultimate Journeys.
Some fans might be disappointed to not see longtime protagonist Ash Ketchum, longtime antagonist Team Rocket, or any of the old Pokémon standbys in this series. Others might find it refreshing to see the series picking up with new friends and original content.
2. Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai (Season 1)
Number of Episodes: 100
Drops on Netflix: March 7
There have been over 50 million copies sold of the Dragon Quest manga, which is in turn based on a series of video games. It was only a matter of time before the story was turned into a television show – and in fact, this is the second time it's happened. However, unlike the 1991 anime adaptation, this version tells the entire plot of the manga over the course of its 100 episodes.
Young orphan Dai is the only human being on an isle of monsters, where he grows up dreaming of being a hero. Dai's life is turned upside down when a group of bandits appear to kidnap his friend Gome. Dai is thrust into a world of princesses, warriors, rituals, and magic when the Dark Lord Hadlar is resurrected, bent on conquering the world. It's up to Dai and his companions to fight back against Handler and his master the Dark King Vearn.
Dragon Quest: The Adventures of Dai ran from 2020 to 2022 on TV Tokyo before its English dub became available in 2023.
3. The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse (Season 1)
Number of Episodes: 15
Drops on Netflix: March 24
Netflix had a major hit with The Seven Deadly Sins, a popular manga-turned-anime that ran for four seasons. In that show, a princess searches for a group of disgraced and dangerous Holy Knights. Wrongly accused of a crime a decade before, the knights (who call themselves The Seven Deadly Sins) resolve to go on a quest to aid the princess in overthrowing tyrants and reclaiming Britannia.
The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse takes place several years after the original series. The Seven Deadly Sins have disbanded, and an innocent young boy named Percival discovers that he is destined to be one of four knights who will destroy the world.
After the death of his grandfather, Percival travels out into the world with a Liones knight named Lancelot. Percival is out to get revenge – and perhaps to find the other three knights of the prophecy.
This long-awaited sequel series premiered in Japan last fall, but with the Netflix release it will become available to fans all over the world.
