Fans are not happy about her possible mid-series drop.

The Handmaid's Tale has become quite the hit since its first season was released in 2017.

Based on the book of the same name by Canadian author Margaret Atwood, the series touches on a variety of social issues.

The more viewers explore the dystopian future world where women are subjected to child-bearing slavery, the more they reflect on the status of women in today's reality, and what can be done to make it better.

As heartbreaking and downright frightening as the show is at times, it has been acclaimed by both general audiences and critics.

Of course, such an important story could not be told properly without a talented cast, and The Handmaid's Tale's casting director managed to create the perfect team.

One of the actresses that fans fell in love with after watching the show is Alexis Bledel, who portrayed Dr. Emily Malek throughout the first four seasons.

Many may remember her from the early years of her career and the hit '00s series Gilmore Girls, where she played Rory Gilmore.

The role in The Handmaid's Tale, however, has allowed Bledel to showcase her full range as an actress and practice what she's learned over the past two decades.

However, fans have a lot to worry about as Bledel's return to The Handmaid's Tale is being questioned today.

As of now, it is known that the show has reached out to the actress, suggesting her character's return for the upcoming season 6, however, there is no information on whether she has agreed to reappear or not.

While some people believe that there is some sort of negotiation process taking place, others simply think that the actress is burned out from the role and doesn't want to come back.

Viewers are not rushing to blame Alexis Bledel, even if the latter is the case.

As much as everyone loves her character, they can all agree that she, along with many others, was made to look dirty by the writers.

Besides, the actress was going through a pretty rough divorce when Season 5 was filmed, and her commitment to spending more time with her family was totally understandable.

Whether or not Alexis Bledel will return to her role as Emily Malek, we'll have to wait and see.

Fans are expecting The Handmaid's Tale Season 6 to be released in 2023, but while there's no official release date yet, you can catch up on previous seasons on Hulu or MAX.
