The Good Doctor Ending Brings Justice for Another Heartbroken Character
With all the tragedies that last season brought, everyone still got their relatively happy ending.
The Good Doctor ’s television run is now officially over, as the show’s long-awaited finale premiered this week. Despite all the heart-shattering plot twists that the season has been shocking its fans with throughout its whole run, the ending didn’t seem that tragic or dramatic at all, even though there was still some room for grieving.
Apart from the fact that the show left all its main characters in quite good positions in life, it also finally made it up to someone whose tragedy wasn’t The Good Doctor’s main focus.
The Finale Makes Bittersweet Closure for a Heartbreaking Story
The seventh season’s episode 5, titled Who At Peace, had fans dumbfounded by Dr. Asher Wolke’s tragic death when he was brutally killed by two anti-semites near a synagogue. Asher’s passing came as something even more heartbreaking given that he was finally about to embrace his Jewish identity after helping a dying patient whose partner was against converting to Judaism before their wedding.
On top of that, by the time of his death Asher was seemingly very happy in his personal life and was even about to take another big step in his relationship with Jerome who had earlier come up with an idea to propose to Asher.
As it turned out, the latter was beaten to death right before meeting with Jerome in a restaurant where he was going to propose.
The episode left fans reassured that Jerome was probably never going to recover from his partner’s passing, but it seems like The Good Doctor’s finale just debunked everyone’s certainty in the character’s impossible future happiness.
Having unveiled where all the main characters were standing several years after the latest events, the episode makes yet another time jump to get a closer look at the series’ side characters. The scene shows a smiling and seemingly happy Jerome accompanied by another man.
The finale doesn’t dive deep into details about his life, but it’s still pretty clear that Jerome has found someone else to give his love to, and that he is no longer as depressed as he was when Asher passed away.
Despite all, The Good Doctor’s ending leaves no doubt that Jerome will never be able to get over Asher’s death and will mourn him even after giving a chance to new relationships in his life.
